James's Story

James has been fundraising for Royal Papworth Hospital Charity to thank the Hospital for the care that his Mum, Maureen received. James organized an event in 2014 which raised an amazing amount for the Charity and he is now taking on an even bigger challenge.

On 17th December, James began his climb up Kilimanjaro with four friends and 29 crew! The group’s summit is midnight on 23rd December.

James says, Papworth looked after my Mum, Maureen for many years, and has a very special place in my heart; without their research and dedication I truly believe she wouldn’t have lived for as long as she did.

Mums condition was diagnosed over 30 years ago at a time when there was little known about her condition. She was given a very short life expectancy, but surpassed this by 23 years!!

This was mainly due to the exceptional work of Royal Papworth Hospital.”

"Kilimanjaro is a serious challenge, but one fitting to raise money for such an amazing charity."

We would like to wish James the best of luck with climbing Kilimanjaro and will be following his journey!
