Taking on new challenges in memory of Libby A group of friends are taking part in events this year to raise funds for Royal Papworth Hospital Charity in memory of their friend, Libby. Libby received a double-lung transplant at Royal Papworth Hospital in May 2016 but sadly passed away in September 2018. After receiving the transplant, Libby ran the Southampton 10k and raised a fantastic total of over £3,800 for the Charity. Libby's family and friends have tirelessly fundraised for the Charity ever since and have so far have raised an amazing total of over £6,500. Rosie, Emma and Tara are all taking part in the Southampton 10k which Libby took part in two years ago. Check out their fundraising page. The girls told us: We are running the ABP Southampton 10km in honour of our beautiful friend Libby who sadly passed away late last year. We were very proud of Libby and what she managed to achieve and this is just a small way of honouring her. We would like to raise money towards the Royal Papworth Hospital Charity, which is a cause that meant a great deal to Libby. Another group of Libby's friends are running the North London Tough Mudder in April to also fundraise for the Charity. Check out their fundraising page. Vincent explained the groups reasons for wanting to take on the challenge: Libby fought passionately for greater public awareness on Cystic Fibrosis and organ donation. In 2017, she completed the Southampton 10k after having undergone a double-lung transplant, raising funds for Royal Papworth. Even with all of the medical adversities she faced, Libby graduated from the University of Southampton in the summer of 2018 with her dissertation receiving high praise and being published. Libby was a true fighter and this is why Tough Mudder felt like the only appropriate to honour the tough Hucker she was!
