Success at the Transplant Games Congratulations to Susan Butler who competed in the British Transplant Games this year! Susan underwent a heart transplant in December 2012 after being diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. She wants to encourage others who have had transplants to take part in the games and for more people to sign up to the organ donation register. In the games, Susan came third in ten pin bowling and had her medal presented to her by someone from the Donor Family Network! She also came fifth in shot putt and made it to the quarter finals of the darts. As well as just competing, Susan also took part in helping set a new Guiness World Record for the number of transplant recipients in a room at the same time- 723!! Royal Papworth Hospital also won the trophy for Best Heart and Lung hospital for the third year running. Susan told us A fantastic, full on five days, celebrating what people can achieve post transplant and also raising awareness of organ donation. Roll on Newport next July!!!
