Robin Aveling presented the Charity and Carole, a transplant nurse with a £500 cheque to thank Royal Papworth for the care that he has received at the hospital. Robin's work colleagues at Openreach, aunt in the USA and Robin himself all donated to the cause.

In early 2018, Robin was put onto the priority list for for a double-lung transplant. 29 days later Robin underwent the transplant, he tells us: "I can remember Ann (one of the transplant coordinators) steaming down the corridor double thumbs up beaming 'we're on'!"

After a few complications post-op, Robin is recovering well from his transplant and when the Charity thanked him for his generosity in raising the money, he told us: "it could never be enough for the gift of life having the transplant".
