Papworth patients runs the London Marathon In 2016 Amy Emerson suddenly fell very ill whilst 29 weeks pregnant and was admitted into intensive care at Kings Lynn Hospital in an induced coma. 12 hours later Amy was still in a critical condition so the consultants made the decision to deliver Amy's baby by cesarean 11 weeks early. A team of intensive care specialists from Papworth Hospital came to Amy and delivered ECMO treatment. Amy was later transferred to Papworth Hospital. We are very pleased to say that Amy and her daughter are both doing well a year on. Just one year on from treatment, Amy successfully completed the London Marathon in a fantastic 4 hours 20 minutes raising over £2,000 for Papworth Hospital as a thank you for saving her life. Amy said: It was such an amazing experience running the marathon and knowing it was all for such a great charity it was all worth it.
