Bonner Family's Fundraising Feat
Rachel Bonner started fundraising in aid of Papworth Hospital Charity in memory of her mother. “When mum was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in 2006 none of our family really knew just how little time we had left with her. She was always so positive and never stopped smiling; this made it even harder to believe that she was ill at all. But over the years we could see her deteriorate as the disease took its toll on her body. On 23rd May this year my mum sadly passed away leaving a massive hole in our lives. She was just 52 years young.
As her birthday approached on 24th October, I felt like I really needed to do something to celebrate her life. I thought the perfect idea would be to raise funds for the hospital that cared for her. She visited Papworth on a regular basis and would always comment on how caring the staff were throughout the hospital. So after talks with my dad and sister in law Becky, we decided to hold a Charity Fun Day. We all pulled together as a family to make it the best fundraiser that we could and I am so grateful to all the family and friends who made the day so successful.
Living without mum is hard and it has been good for us all to have a focus planning our Fun Day. Now it’s all over, I can start planning the next project! It would be great if people reading this feel motivated to make a difference to other peoples’ lives by fundraising for Papworth Hospital Charity. I hope by creating awareness that we can help other families and patients through difficult times”.
Together the Bonner family raised a fantastic £877.00 for Papworth Hospital Charity! Thank you to everyone who so kindly donated towards the Bonner family’s fundraising and most of all, thank you to the Bonners for all their hard work and dedication to raising funds.
