Pritchard Family continue fundraising mission
The Pritchard family have continued with their mission to raise funds in hono
ur of Kim.
They successfully held a golf day at Dainton, Newton Abbot, initially planning the day to be for 50 people but it quickly escalated and they had 80 keen golfers on the day. Carol Finning said “The weather was perfect despite it being in March! We had a mixture of high and low handicaps and both men and ladies which provided for an excellent atmosphere. The day started at 8.30 with the first tee off and the last ones slotted in for noon. By 4.30, everyone had finished and it was time for an extra putting competition, a raffle and an opportunity to grab all unspent money to sponsor my daughter Katie who ran the Great West Run for Papworth!”
They raised an incredible £1,220.00 on the golfing day and because it was such a success they now plan on making it an annual event.
Katie ran the
Great Western Run half marathon on 1st May and raised over £800 in total. Katie’s mum Carol said “She was struggling a little at mile 7 but thought of Kim and overcame the blisters and pain to be determined to finish - there were some tears from us all when she crossed the line.” Katie added "It was very, very tough and at 7 miles I ran past my boyfriend and told him I didn't think I would be able to finish. But with lots of encouragement from friends and family, and the thought of all the money I'd raised in memory of an inspirational lady, I managed to finish the distance using a mixture of jogging and walking."
Our congratulations and thanks go to Katie for completing it in only 2 hours 38 minutes and committing to such a challenge whilst studying for her degree finals.
